What is Java?

Java is a platform for application development. You can use it to run a variety of games, applications and applets created by Java technology. However, its operation (as opposed to JavaScript) requires additional installation of Java Platform Program (from the official site).

What is Java Leak?

It is a data leakage via Java plugin. If it is installed on your computer, it can reveal your real IP address and DNS, as well as the version of operating system and system locale (language and other settings).

How to prevent Java Leak?

Disable Java-applets in a browser.
Disable Java in the platform settings.
Do not install Java Platform or completely delete it from the system.

How to disable Java Platform in Windows:

Open “Start menu” —> “All Programs”, find “Java” and run “Configure Java”.
Go to “Security” tab.
Uncheck “Enable Java content in the browser” and click “Apply”.
Restart the browser.

How to disable Java Platform in Internet Explorer:

Click “Settings” menu button in the upper left corner of your browser and select “Internet Options”.
Go to “Security” tab and click “Custom Level”.
In “Scripting” category find “Scripting of Java applets” and select “Disable”.
Restart the browser.

How to disable Java Platform in Opera:

Click “Opera” button in the upper left corner and select “Settings” in the menu.
Select “Websites” tab in the left column and click “Manage individual plugins”.
Find “Java (™)” and click “Disable”.
Restart the browser.

Find “Java” and change the option values to “Never activate”.
